When Harriet Tubman told her stories in her simple language, people learned how God guided her, how she found support from friends and family and how she changed her future by taking action. Her stories tell about life growing up as a slave, service as a spy, scout, and nurse in the Civil War and more. She helped women start businesses, supported schools, civil rights, and established a home for sick and homeless people. Harriet Tubman spent 29 years in slavery, she suffered abuse, poverty and was uneducated, yet she became known as the Woman called Moses, and as a great leader in American history. How did she overcome the disadvantages in life she experienced? It was by her strong faith, love, and leadership. Harriet Tubman left a legacy of love, compassion, faith, and commitment that is an inspiration to all. She is a model whose life demonstrates that anyone can step-up and step-out, to make a difference in his or her own life and the lives of others.
Karol V. Brown is the author of two books, 30 Lessons in Love, Leadership, and Legacy from Harriet Tubman presented 30 lessons that taught readers about the character and strengths that she feels Harriet Tubman shows in her life stories. Traits like brilliant communication skills, teamwork, compassionate servant-leadership. Karol's second book, The Harriet Tubman Way, An Inspirational Guide to Self-Love, Empowerment and Legendary Leadership for Girls, includes lessons in self-love and empowerment addressing the lack if books giving girls a "shero" and a plan towards their own legendary stories. Karol is also an actor and storyteller. Karol started portraying Harriet in 1999. She has shared Harriet Tubman's stories as a jovial endearing elderly Aunt Harriet. In schools, libraries, and other locations, Karol brings audiences As Close to Meeting Harriet Tubman as You Will Ever Be. Karol wrote the screenplay and performed in the movie, Harriet Tubman, Love In Action, released in 2022. Karol works as a Teaching Artist and Keynote speaker in schools and feels that Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is important. Each of her projects includes SEL lessons people can learn as they learn about Harriet Tubman. Karol has a BS degree in Nutrition from the University of Dayton, OH, and a Master's Degree in public health, Health Promotions, and Disease Prevention from Loma Linda University, CA.
