Professor Alonzo L. Gaskill, PhD Alonzo L. Gaskill was born and raised in Jackson County, Missouri. After two decades as an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church, he became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later served a mission in England. Upon his return, he earned degrees in education, philosophy, theology, and biblical studies and began a career with the Church Educational System, teaching seminary for four years in southeastern Idaho. Since 2003, he has been a professor of world religions at Brigham Young University. Dr. Gaskill has been married to his wife, Lori, since 1989. They have five children, and three grandchildren. They currently reside in Payson, Utah. "
