This book is a unique bibliographical and critical study that takes an in depth look at the books of the poet Thomas Meyer. This book is a unique bibliographical and critical study that takes an in depth look at the books of the poet Thomas Meyer. Although Meyer s poetry has been somewhat neglected until fairly recently, he has been a steadfast member of gay and queer poetry networks since the late-60s, with books such as The Bang Book and Uranian Roses, and appearances in notable gay poetry and related anthologies including In Homage to Priapus, Son of the Male Muse, and Peter Jay s rendition of The Greek Anthology, the latter of which features Meyer s translations of Strato (among others). His work was championed by notable gay poets, such as John Ashbery, Robert Duncan, Allen Ginsberg, Gerrit Lansing, James Broughton, and Ian Young, who published two works by Meyer on his imprint Catalyst, the first Canadian press dedicated to gay writers.

While this book is a bibliographical and poetic study, it employs hauntology as its foundation, using alternative approaches to literary, library, and archival studies by Mark Fisher, Craig Dworkin, Tan Lin, Jodey Castricano, and of course, Jacques Derrida. Many of Meyer s works are haunted by recurring specters, informed by channeling and possession, or are productions of spectrophilia; this project focuses on how certain hauntological factors have informed Meyer s practice over his 50 plus year career.
