Wound healing following skin injury is a natural phenomenon. The natural way of healing may lack quality, rapidity, and aesthetics. Wound infection is one of the most significant factors that delay healing when microorganisms compete with the host immune system and consequently attack viable tissue. Promoting wound healing was an important goal of many works. This study tackled the development of a new easily applied in situ gel of Cephadroxil (Cepha) loaded with chitosan nanoparticles and collagen to promote wound healing and prevent bacterial infection. The formula presents a promising approach to achieve an effective, yet cheap wound healing gel depending on the antibacterial activity of both Cepha and chitosan in addition to the healing property of collagen.
