Acute pesticide poisoning is a public health problem. The aim of this study is to describe the population admitted to the intensive care unit for acute pesticide poisoning and to compare our results with data from the literature. This is a prospective study over a period of 5 years. We included all patients admitted to an acute pesticide poisoning registry. We identified 35 cases. Twenty-five patients (71.4%) presented with chloral poisoning and 10 patients (28.5%) with acute organophosphate poisoning. MV was indicated in all patients, vascular filling in 28 patients (80%), and catecholamines in 4 patients (8.1%). An anticonvulsant was prescribed in 1 patient (11.4%). We used Contrathion in 10 patients (28.5%) and atropine in the same number. Psychiatric care was deemed necessary in 28 patients (80%). The outcome was favorable.Early and appropriate care (preservation of vital functions and administration of specific antidotal treatment) improves the prognosis.
