Alec Edward Shelbrooke (born 10 January 1976) is a British Conservative Party politician, who was elected at the 2010 general election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Elmet and Rothwell, a new constituency created as a result of changes made by the Boundary Commission for England. The seat was Conservative target number 107. Born in 1976, Shelbrooke has lived in the constituency since 1999 after taking a job as a project administrator at the University of Leeds. He is a Mechanical Engineer by profession and graduated from Brunel University with honours in 1998.
