Cognizant of the fact that it is in schools where teachers decide whether to leave or to stay, it is incumbent upon education managers to know what causes these teachers to leave. Knowing the causes of teacher attrition and turnover is a critical step in creating an enabling environment that can promote teacher retention. This study therefore sought to analyse the role of education managers in promoting teacher retention.

Hartley Kaluwa ist von Beruf Lehrer. Er hat einen Master-Abschluss in Pädagogik (Führung und Management), den er 2005 an der Universität Mzuzu erworben hat. Außerdem hat er einen Bachelor of Arts (Geisteswissenschaften) mit Auszeichnung und ein University Certificate of Education (UCE) mit Auszeichnung, die beide 2005 bzw. 2012 von der University of Malawi erworben wurden.
