Autorenporträt
After more than 20 years working in information technology for firms like Creative Gourmets, Polaroid, and Bolt Beranek and Newman (BBN), and 15 years consulting on nights and weekends, Mark Beckley started Small Business Computing in January 2004. Since then, Mark has been building high-performance custom desktops and servicing the technology needs of small business and home office clients on Boston's North Shore. For more than a decade now, the majority of his income has come from building custom desktops, and he believes he is the only one in his service area building machines at this level. More notably, nearly every machine that Mark has built in the last decade is still in service today. Mark graduated from Bentley College (now Bentley University) in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in computer systems and an associate's degree in accounting. He worked for a small software firm and then joined Creative Gourmets in 1988, where he headed the information technology (IT) department. In the early 1990s he joined Polaroid Corporation, where he eventually ran technical support at corporate headquarters. He returned to Bentley College in 1990 and graduated cum laude with an MBA in 1993.
