The monograph examines the key processes of capitalism development in Italy and Spain from the Napoleonic Wars to the present day. An attempt is made to analyze the political, economic and social aspects of capitalist transformation. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon of the post-war "economic miracle" and the reasons for the subsequent decline, as well as to the participation of Italy and Spain in the process of European integration. The chronological framework of the econometric analysis and the database compiled by the author cover the 70-year period between 1950 and 2020. Investigating economic growth from the demand side, the author emphasizes the role of investment, in particular foreign direct investment, foreign trade and the exchange rate. Supply-side factors are analyzed using an endogenous Caldorov-type general growth model with an embedded mechanism of technological progress, which, in addition to physical and human capital, takes into account time as an event space of creative economic activity.
