Former college soccer-star, turned pastor, Luis Gonzalez is feeling a need for a big change after a painful breakup. Even though Luis loves his church in Fairhope, Alabama, an opportunity comes out of the blue for a job in Boston. While there for an interview, Luis has a chance encounter with his longtime Boston friend Hattie Brown who introduces her new rescue dog, Buckley. Hattie suggests Buckley may be the perfect sidekick for a busy pastor and encourages him to start fresh in Boston. Luis can't think of anything better than a church dog-and being in the same city as newly single Hattie, who has his heart beating a bit faster. Feeling brave and inspired, Luis accepts the Boston pastoral position and he and Buckley begin transforming a downtrodden church. It all seems to be coming together perfectly until Luis's ex-girlfriend returns and a cranky Bishop makes life miserable. After a series of mishaps, Luis suddenly finds he may lose his two best friends and must take the risk of a lifetime.
Autorenporträt
Gladdie Deane is the pen name of twin sisters Kari Espinosa and Kristi Wolf, honoring their paternal grandmother Gladys Deane. Grandmother Gladys generously gave each twin her own birthday cake and provided them with an endless supply of quarters to purchase Archie comic books. Although the twins reside in different cities, they live remarkably parallel lives. On any given day there are books and dog leashes shoved in their oversized purses, lipstick and hairbrushes nowhere to be found. Their families, together, own seven dogs: three English Labradors, a Golden Retriever, a Doodle, a Newfie and a Corgie-Australian Shepherd mix. He Never Liked Dogs is their first novel.
