Prolific writer Abraham "Bram" Stoker (1847-1912), born in Dublin, Ireland, is remembered today as the author of the classic horror novel Dracula. During his lifetime, Stoker was known as the manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London's West End and assistant to that theatre's owner, the celebrated Irish stage actor Henry Irving. Stoker's theatrical career surfaces in his writing. Two examples in this book are "A Star Trap," which immerses the reader in late nineteenth century theatrical life, and "The Squaw," which mentions Irving. Award-winning cartoonist Eric Shanower writes and draws the graphic novel series Age of Bronze, a retelling of the Trojan War legend. Shanower's many other comics projects include collaborations with Jean "Moebius" Giraud, Harlan Ellison, and Ed Brubaker. His illustrations grace children's books by L. Frank Baum, Walter R. Brooks, and Eloise Jarvis McGraw.
