This paper aims to demonstrate the importance of geography as a field of knowledge in the study of race relations, through Law 10.639/03 and the possibility of referencing the black population, using the contributions of cultural geography as an investigative approach. In this sense, working with cultural diversity by exploring the ethnic and racial differences that exist both in the classroom and in society enables critical reflection and encourages students/citizens to think based on their place, their life experiences, and their daily struggles.
