Fernando Assis dos Santos wurde in Kolumbien geboren und wuchs in der Stadt Sorocaba, im Landesinneren von São Paulo, auf. Er hat einen Abschluss in Geografie, einen Master und einen Doktortitel in Pädagogik von der Universität Sorocaba - UNISO. Er forscht im Bereich Bildung und Städte und arbeitet als Geografielehrer in staatlichen und privaten Grund-, Sekundar- und Hochschulschulen.
