This monograph is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the formation and development of gender equality in international law, as well as the peculiarities of its realization in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The first section examines the key stages in the formation of the global movement for women's rights, the role of international conferences and basic conventions, in particular the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), in ensuring gender equality. The second section of the monograph is devoted to the legal and institutional reforms carried out in Uzbekistan to protect women's rights and ensure their active participation in the social and political life of society. The work reveals relevant issues of interaction between international legal norms and the national system and emphasizes the importance of international experience for the formation of effective gender policy.
