With the aim to draw a map of the historic urban evolution of the walled city of Famagusta research was carried out about its past history of architecture in view of political, economical and social aspects as well as the existing architectural heritage. In this book, the walled city was analyzed according to building types mainly in view of their functions in medieval period. The data which reflect the architectural style of the houses and housing types of the different periods were collected and analyzed. Then the effect of social and economic characteristics together with the characteristics of the inhabitants on the architectural styles was investigated.
