Award-winning author, Denis O'Leary is a retired elementary school teacher. The parents of many of his students worked California's fields but did not know of the history that preceded their labor. Mr. O'Leary presents the story, Grandpa's Short-Handled Hoe, story, Grandpa's Short Handled Hoe, because a child need not wait until high school or the university to learn about Chicano Studies.
