Drilling is one of the primitive and common operations in rock excavation industry, starting from prospecting to exploitation. Rocks are drilled for several purposes, such as geological exploration, blast hole for mineral production, for rock bolting, rock cores for determining geotechnical parameters and rock excavation for civil constructions. To select and utilize the optimum drill bit and machine for specific job is a challenging part for mining professionals. The selection of drill bit depends upon the type of rock (geology) to be drilled and purpose of the drilling operation. Therefore, this book demonstrates some of the main factors which are influential in the selection of optimized drill bit for specific drilling operation for specific rockmass. The conclusion based on results is mainly dependent on the laboratory experiments and field application data from three different quarries of cement industries of Pakistan.

Ho conseguito il diploma di laurea in ingegneria mineraria presso il MUET di Jamshoro, Pakistan, nel 2009. Ho lavorato per più di 2 anni in miniere di carbone sotterranee. Dal 2011 insegno materie minerarie presso la BUITEMS, Pakistan. Ho lavorato come consulente in diversi progetti in Pakistan. Attualmente sono iscritto al corso di laurea magistrale (Ingegneria mineraria) presso il CUMT di Xuzhou, nella Repubblica Popolare Cinese.
