IN THE MOTHER'S HOUSE explores the matriarchal wisdom and teachings of the Hebrew Bible. Seven feminine characters are discussed: Inanna, Eve, Ruth, the wife and daughters of Job, Woman Wisdom in the book of Proverbs, and in Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and Esther. Their journey to individuation, the relational challenges they encounter, and the wisdom they discover along the way defy patriarchal norms and guardrails demonstrating that, at the heart of the Biblical text, matriarchy endures, birthing powerfully subversive feminine characters and voices. These voices, often ignored by a predominantly male readership, are only beginning to rise. And with them, a radically different teaching arises also, one that often is at odds with patriarchy, countercultural, subversive, yet striking a deep chord in the human psyche, giving us a strikingly different vision of God, of femininity, of masculinity, and a powerful vision of the profound significance of the partnership between man and woman.
