The #1 bestselling series finally back in print for the 20th Anniversary has been translated into 17 languages and sold over 5 million copies worldwide! Enter the fantasy world of Ruin Mist. Perfect for the young and the young at heart. After the Great War that divided the peoples, the kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted 500 years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man, or device, shall be cleansed to dust. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond. The one hope of the peoples of Ruin Mist was Queen Mother, the elf queen of old. She saw a way out of everlasting darkness, a path that required the union of the divided peoples. And so it began. Like the world of Ruin Mist itself and the Hundred Worlds universe in which the stories take place, the Ruin Mist books have many paths and it's up to the reader to choose his or her path. Begin in the Kingdoms or the Magic Lands, continue on with the Dragons or enter the realms of fire, return to the Kingdoms when you are ready to visit the Great Door itself. Whether you wind your way through named paths or numbered paths, children's editions or adult editions, the Hundred Worlds will not give up its secrets easily. Autorenporträt
Robert Stanek grew up in a small town where the lines between friendship, responsibility, and the longing for something more were often blurred. Much like Bob in Almost California, Stanek spent his high school years juggling personal struggles, tight-knit friendships, and a desire to break free from the confines of small-town life. The themes of emotional weight, family responsibility, and the unspoken bonds between friends resonate deeply with him.During his own teenage years, Stanek held an unlikely high school job that shaped his understanding of hard work and personal growth-lessons that would later inspire the characters and stories he writes today. His ability to capture the complexities of coming of age stems from those early experiences and his love of exploring the pivotal moments that shape who we become. When he's not writing, Stanek enjoys immersing himself in the music and culture of the 1980s, the era that influenced Almost California. He believes that even when we're looking for an escape, the things we want to leave behind often hold the key to understanding who we truly are.Stanek lives with his family in Washington state in the USA, where he is at work on his next novel.Readers can connect with Robert Stanek on his website robert-stanek.com, where they can explore more of his works, learn about upcoming releases, and delve into his life and history.
