His poems are comprehensible, poems of ideas and intellect with a purpose to change the world. He looks at everything with an objective distance but gets agitated within which gives way to his poems, otherwise all his poems would have been great essays. A cursory look at the content page shows how the titles are in fact titles of essays, be it 'Global Democracy', 'Human Ingenuity', 'Growth Evenly Balanced', 'World a Family', 'Convergence: India's Mission', or 'Ponds Still Relevant', 'India for the World' (the title of the collection). Is it possible, one wonders, to convert these prose themes into poems? Dr. Mahapatra has made possible the impossible. What made him possible, the impossible? His mastery over words, playing with words, that come to him like 'leaves to trees'. One word flowing into another, then another to another, preceded by flow of ideas following 'Stream of Consciousness'.

Dr. Ajit Kumar Mahapatra, a renowned natural hygienist, studied natural therapeutics under expert guidance of Dr. Kularanjan Mukherjee of Kolkata. Background of modern medical education in V.S.S. Medical College & Hospital, Burla (VIMSAR), helped him to promote and propagate preventive and promotional healthcare throughout India, and abroad, during stay in the State of Connecticut (CT) USA.A Rotarian, social activist, he associates himself practically, mentally with the common men in distress.Humane connection with a variety of people in multiple situations has evolved Dr. Mahapatra into a poet-people centric.His earlier anthology of poems, 'Seeing the World', was widely appreciated.Indian root, emotional attachment, family ties persuade Dr. Mahapatra to glorify and project Indian Culture, philosophy, way of life, approach through his poems. He has highlighted Indian festivals. Justifiably, he has kept the title of the book, "India for the World".The poet's endeavour is to propagate literature of India.
