Trey Armstrong was born and raised in Pecos, Texas. He is the fourth generation of a West Texas pioneer ranching family. He received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2003. He and his wife Susanne, who is also a veterinarian, own and operate Sandhills Veterinary Clinic in Texas. They have three children. Pat Brocksmith Walsh was raised in northeastern Montana, where she learned to appreciate a rural lifestyle on the wide open plains of her family ranch. She and her husband settled on the ranch, raising three children. With a degree in speech pathology, she works part-time as a speech therapist and full time as a ranch wife. Art has become a sideline that combines her love of ranching and history with children's books and speech activities.
