Nicola Killen trabajó durante muchos años diseñando tarjetas de felicitación antes de decidirse a dar el paso hacia los álbumes ilustrados. Cursó un máster en ilustración de álbumes infantiles en la Cambridge School of Art y pronto vio su trabajo publicado en muchos medios del Reino Unido. Desde que se graduó se dedica a ilustrar y escribir álbumes, libros de cartón y libros pop-up. Vive en Cambridge y trabaja en un estudio que comparte con amigos.
