Langerhans' cells are dendritic cells that have a somewhat irregular shape. They are cells of myeloid origin that are known to be involved in immune responses. They are insinuated between keratinocytes but are not joined to them by cell junctions.Langerhans' cells are abundant in the epidermis, containing large granules called Birbeck granules. They are normally present in lymph nodes, and can be found in other organs in the condition Histiocytosis.
