Text in Italian. The essay is dedicated to some of the most important Florentine explorers who lived between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, in the era of great geographical discoveries. Characters such as Amerigo Vespucci or Giovanni da Verrazzano, who have ventured on long journeys, by sea or land, to places still unknown, and have contributed to the progress of knowledge by creating a link between distant civilizations. Each of them started his mission from Florence, almost nobody returned to their homeland, but their names deserve to be etched in history.
