A midwave infrared (MWIR) imaging Fourier transform spectrometer (IFTS) collected hyperspectral imagery (HSI) of combustion plumes. Exhaust data from a small turbojet engine burning diesel at 300 cc/min was collected at 1/cm. A deployment to Dugway Proving Grounds, UT to collect HSI of chem/bio agent simulants resulted in detection of methyl salicilate from a stack release and explosive detonation, but spectral identification was not possible due to weak signal strength.
