Autorenporträt
My mommy had cancer but it doesn't change who she is. It made her stronger. When she was going through everything, all I knew how to do was hide. I would spend all my time in my room or on the softball field. I would avoid listening to what the doctors said and I only talked to my mom when she was doing seemingly normal things. I was unable to be there for her so that I could be there for myself. My sisters became extra parents, and my dad became a bigger force of protection and support. Together the three of them kept me going through everything. I let my emotions out through art instead of talking to people. This book is my way of giving back to the kids who may not want to ask the questions or know the answers. This book is for the kids who feel left behind or like they're in the way. This book is for the kids who can't be a part of the journey without stepping away first. Now it is possible to use this as a resource and a release. Coloring can allow you to disconnect and just be in the moment, it can be used to color together, or inform a kid with an activity included.
