"Of Bitches and Babes" takes place at a radio station in Nashville, Tennessee, where two late-night radio personalities host a talk show titled "The Zack and Zed Show." "Of Bitches and Babes" takes place at a radio station in Nashville, Tennessee, where two late-night radio personalities host a talk show titled "The Zack and Zed Show." While the two male jocks who host the show love their late-night banter, their ratings have been suffering, causing them to search for a way to boost the show's popularity. Their attempts have been futile until one night a heavily inebriated young man calls into the show, telling the hosts that his girlfriend just left him high and dry at one of the local nightclubs, stating that she had "just walked out with another dude." The young caller is full of rage, yelling that he believed his girlfriend was a babe, but it turns out she was just a bitch. Suddenly, the hosts notice a spike in both listeners and callers, all wanting to express their individual opinions on the situation--both supportive and condemning. The event sparks inspiration, resulting in a "contest" where male callers that may have experienced a similar scenario can enter by sending in their story to their show. Zack and Zed would then select the top ten entries, read them live on the air, and have the listeners vote if the offender is a "bitch" or a "babe." The female who receives the most votes will receive a fully paid trip to Hawaii, and all the stories will be bound together in a book titled "Of Bitches and Babes," with the royalties all being donated to charity. "Of Bitches and Babes" was a huge success, leading Zack and Zed to want to even the playing field by doing an additional contest for male behavior titled "Of Studs and Duds."
Upon graduating high school, Jim Anderson spent a whole year waiting to be drafted into the military, like many of his friends already had been. With the threat of being drafted constantly looming overhead, many employers refused to hire him since he was likely going to be shipped overseas in the near future, causing Jim to endure one of the most miserable years of his life. Eventually, Jim was drafted into the Army and, within months, was shipped overseas to Vietnam as an infantryman with the 196th Light Infantry Brigade of the Americal (All American) Division that acted as a "reactionary force" unit that worked with multiple different divisions and branches of the armed forces. His unit practically lived on helicopters, as they were constantly on the move, being sent from one hot spot to another to support other units in need. During his time overseas, he was wounded in battle twice, resulting in a 4-month-long hospital stay, but it also earned him the Purple Heart along with various other awards. After being honored with multiple service-connected awards, he left the military a month early to go to college and begin a journey that would take him through Calhoun Community College, the University of North Alabama, Alabama A&M University, and the University of Alabama. His educational career ended with him obtaining a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Arts, an Education Specialist degree, and a Juris Doctorate. Jim has served as both head football and baseball coach and as a school administrator and has managed the country music band, Heartland--an award-winning platinum-selling country music band--that his two sons participated in as charter members. Additionally, he is also involved with professional baseball as the first official scorer with the Double-A Minor League baseball team, the Huntsville Stars. He is also an affiliate of the Oakland Athletics program. Currently, Jim is living a good life in Athens, Alabama, within Canebrake--the most beautiful golf community under the sun--with his wife, Diana Ballinger Anderson.
