Based on research carried out through dozens of in-depth interviews with the most prominent podcasters and notable case studies - from Radio Ambulante to Podium Podcast - this work presents for the first time a complete overview of the development of podcasting in the Latin world with the aim of identifying the main models and trends in this communication medium. This book provides a journey through the history of Latin podcasting, with special attention given to the following main areas: financing; production and distribution models; new agents and intermediaries; main platforms for native podcasts, audiences and reception processes; sound fiction podcasts; new journalistic narratives; music podcasts; education; cultural and scientific dissemination; minorities and social activism.
Autorenporträt
Manuel Fernández-Sande has been a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Media & Communication Science of the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, since 2001. He is a member of the Audiovisual Diversity research group. His main lines of research are: Audiovisual and Cultural Diversity, Analysis of the Radio Market, History of Radio, and Strategic Management of Media and Communication Companies. He is the author of the book The Origins of Radio in Spain. Juan Ignacio Gallego is a teacher and researcher in the Communication Department of the University Carlos III of Madrid, Spain. Currently, he is co-director of the MA in Music Industry and Sound Studies at the UC3M and a member of the Audiovisual Diversity research group. He has published the book Podcasting: Nuevos modelos de distribución de contenidos sonoros.
