This dissertation reveals some of the test-taking strategies employed by EFL Saudi University Level learners who were English major on two gap-filling vocabulary tests. It also talks about how these cognitive processes affected students performance in the two tests. For the first time, this study contribute to the field of test-taking strategies by revealing two important issues : 1) the sources of information relied on to reach an answer, and 2) how test-taking strategies inform us about rating the difficulty of test types (in this study two gap-filling tests).
