We're constantly besieged by news of the important issues of our time - wars and peace, elections, the future of our planet. But there is one subject, rarely discussed in our secular world, that is even more important to us as individuals: the soul. Who are we, really? Are we just our physical bodies or are we souls temporarily inhabiting flesh? Where does the soul come from and where does it go? In his new book, The Birth / Growth / Decline of the Human Soul, Theodore Balestreri explores these questions, taking us on a wide-ranging survey of stories about the human soul from all over the globe and from far back in time. We also look at modern ideas, including the latest scientific observations, and we visit the paths cut through this maze of beliefs and doubts by esoteric traditions such as Masonry and Theosophy. Throughout the book we're guided by an ancient and mysterious figure, the Traveler, who takes us along on his own journey of discovery.
