A Story of Scars, Survival, and Unshakable Hope. When the weight of your past threatens to drown you, sometimes you must cross an ocean to learn how to float. This is the story of a woman who carried childhood trauma like hidden bruises, who faced bullying that shaped her like relentless waves on stone, and who stared into the abyss of depression - yet chose to keep walking toward the light. From the streets of Kampala to the beaches of Vietnam, these pages trace: The silent scream of being violated by someone who should have protected you. The cruel arithmetic of measuring your worth by others' glances. The moment depression almost won. The unexpected salvation found in foreign lands and fleeting connections.More than a memoir, this is a testament to the quiet courage of surviving. The revolutionary act of loving yourself when the world said you were unworthy. This isn't a survival story. It's a manual for breathing when the world tries to drown you.
Autorenporträt
I'm Petra Namuyiga, born in Uganda to Dora and Robert Matovu. Growing up, I was always curious and passionate about learning, storytelling, and adventures, which shaped who I am today. I'm a computer science student and currently work as a developer at SAP. Beyond coding, I volunteer with different organisations where I work to empower young people, especially girls, through education and technology. I'm a daughter, big sister, and friend, and I cherish the connections I have with family and loved ones. I also love traveling, exploring new cultures, and writing, which allows me to share my experiences, adventures, and the lessons I've learned along the way. This book is my way of inviting you into my world. This is my love letter to every person who's ever been told "you don't belong." "PS: Scars are just proof the story was worth surviving."
