Marjorie Bowen (1885-1952) was a prolific British writer whose works included historical fiction, ghost stories, and biographies. Over the course of her career, Bowen wrote over 150 novels and short tales under the pen names Joseph Shearing and George R. Preedy. She persevered in pursuing her love of writing in spite of obstacles in her personal life, such as financial hardships and the death of her spouse in World War I.
