This work has as its theme 'The teaching of Geography in municipal schools' and addresses the issue of teaching, continuing teacher training, as well as the work of Pedagogical Coordinators in monitoring teaching activities in municipal schools in Augustinópolis-To. To this end, this work arose from the following problem: how is Geography taught in the early years in municipal schools in the municipality of Augustinópolis-To? With this in mind, the overall objective is to understand the teaching of geography in the early years in municipal schools in Augustinópolis-To. The methodology used to carry out the work was a literature review in search of support to substantiate the work, as well as field research, using a questionnaire with open-ended questions directed at pedagogical coordinators and teachers working in schools in the municipality as a data collection tool. The study found that these teachers lacked continuing education in Geography, as emphasis is placed on Portugueseand mathematics.

Jose Erisvaldo Barros holds a degree in Geography from UNIFAP, a specialisation in Communication from PUC/SP and a Master's degree in Education from UNESA/RJ. He was course coordinator and lecturer at UVA Amapá. He is currently course coordinator at UNITINS-Augustinópolis campus, with experience in the basic education network of the State of Tocantins, teaching Geography.
