In Cameroon, as in other African countries, a demographic trend has emerged since independence, causing populations to migrate to urban areas. In these cities, urbanization is marked by the anarchic occupation of urban space and the proliferation of informal settlements. The result of an industrial revolution with its advantages and disadvantages, characterized by accentuated environmental degradation due to the dumping of waste all around cities, requiring better policy guidance to prevent any risk of pollution. In the light of the above, the aim of this research is to assess the role of waste in Cameroon in asserting the fundamental right to a healthy environment. This issue is part of the global orientation of environmental protection, which is currently crystallizing around the issue of climate change.

TAMOUYA Aurélien è insegnante-ricercatore presso il Centre Nation d'Education del Ministero della Ricerca in Camerun. Attualmente sta completando un dottorato (PhD) in diritto, con opzione in diritto ambientale (DIE). L'autore è specializzato in diritto ambientale e diritto delle risorse naturali (non rinnovabili).
