Ten years ago, the Munich City Council launched Germany's largest municipal school construction initiative. This book not only reflects on what has been achieved so far but also highlights the challenges and opportunities that still lie ahead for the Bavarian capital in developing a high-performing educational infrastructure. These challenges and opportunities serve as an example for other cities and municipalities as well. The accomplishments and qualities of this initiative are explored across five thematic clusters through introductory texts, interviews, illustrative infographics, and documentation of exemplary architectural projects. In doing so, the book brings central issues into focus: educational equity, forward-looking pedagogy, resource-conscious building, and interdisciplinary, cooperative action.
