Spirituality refers to us being souls that coexist on earth and in heaven, both of which are spiritual realms. When the outside world becomes grossly materialistic and 'nonspiritual' like now in 2024, we all need to connect to our souls and our spiritual energies. This means disconnecting from the world of the internet, politics, race, and religion so we can then focus on the only truth, our inner selves. This can be through yoga, meditation, gardening, walking, art, and any activity that does not depend on being 'connected to others. This collection of photographs depicts Buddhist monks in South East Asia who try to do just this.

There are some similarities between Christianity and Buddhism: they both have commandments about not killing, stealing, etc. They also have places of worship, churches, and temples, and guardians of these places, monks, and priests.

The main difference I can see is that Christianity is a community religion where people gather in churches to praise God and support each other in their faith. They are dependent on each other for their faith to be strong. They also believe in a God who created the universe and who is the focus of all your good and bad deeds. A relationship between God and humans that gives meaning, forgiveness, and peace.

Whereas, Buddhists do not believe in a creator God and focus more on the meaning of suffering and how to avoid it. This essentially means knowing your mind and its thoughts and how to control your mind in a good and mindful way through meditation and similar endeavors.

Some people believe that Jesus was a Buddhist monk. There are many things the same in the Buddhist and Christian Bibles. The most powerful one is loving your neighbor and being kind and generous to all living things.

I hope these photographs show the common ground between Buddhism and Christianity, all religions, and help you realize all religions, myths, folk beliefs (Animism), and spiritual knowledge. And there is no right or wrong religion. That your inner self that you connect to through contemplation and mediation is connected to the spiritual realms and all its knowledge and wisdom. And once connected your life will be in sync with the universe that some people call God and others call the Universe. And, the deep secret truths hidden in these religious texts and teachings, which the meaning of only becomes apparent when you are finally enlightened. For example, what Buddha teaches is apparent in the New Testament and vice versa.

It does not matter if you are a religious person or not, these photos are a poignant reminder of what is important in any spiritual teaching: love thyself and love thy neighbor. If you can do this you are a spiritual being indeed. Free of dogma, separation, and hate.
