Autorenporträt

Ivan Fabe Dempsey Hyatt grew up on a small horse farm in rural North Carolina, where wide-open fields and shadowed woods planted the seeds of his storytelling. He eventually traded pastures for laboratories, earning degrees in chemistry and mathematics from East Carolina University, and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Florida. By day, Dempsey is a tenured Associate Professor at Adelphi University, researching hypervalent iodine chemistryby night, he writes fiction that delves into the darker corners of the human experience.

His horror short story Gurgleplop has been featured on the Frighteningtales.com podcast and Dungeon Studios' Fables From The Forgotten, as well as published in Halloween Party '23 by Devil's Party Press. His novel A Matter Over Mind won two Best Manuscript Sample awards at The Atlanta Writers Conference.

When not writing or teaching, Dempsey channels his creative energy into music, playing guitar in the metal band Flee To The Vault and producing dark electronic soundscapes as Malefic Chemist.
