These are letters I wrote in 1996. They show the struggle I went through to establish myself here. I had terrible trouble finding housing, and I slept on couches and hard-wood floors for long stretches of time. I spent most of my time living in Brooklyn in an art loft space with two roommates. I loved the nightlife at this time in my life and I went to bars and clubs, and tried out for rock bands. It was hard for me, because housing costs were high and job competition was steep. But I loved New York City, and I was determined to make it my home for many years to come.

Autorenporträt
HELLO!! 👋 My name is Lynn and I have been writing privately for over 30 years. Awhile back, I asked myself: "What's the point of all that writing if it stays hidden on my computer and no one ever reads it?" Therefore, I've decided to make my writing public and self-publish it. Admittedly, organizing what has become a mountain of writing is a daunting task indeed, but one I am committed to investing time in.

Honestly, my goal was never to be a writer. It's not so much that I like to write as it is my need to get thought out of my head (it helps me to think more clearly). I waste no time on drafts and what comes out stays on the page with little or no editing. I wish I could have been a pianist or painter (even a dancer!), something that is musical or visual. Alas, writing chose me; and so, I'm collecting pieces I have written over the years and putting them into e-book (and if possible) print form. I'm also separating the titles according to topic or time frame. I'll post and publish even if no one purchases or downloads, because it's not about numbers; it's about the intellectual creativity and expression that I most enjoy.

My writing is ALL MY OWN. I never have (and I never will) utilize AI-powered writing tools. It might sound mean, but I believe that if you require artificial intelligence to replace your own intelligence and complete your sentences, then it's inauthentic: You're not a writer, and your work is not your own. I mostly write creative nonfiction and memoir, but I also write about politics, short stories, and poetry. This is most of what I write with the exception of what I post on my socials.

THANKS!! 🤗 for reading my titles! I hope you enjoy them. I truly do appreciate it. 🙏

P.S. You can also find my titles on a site called Leanpub by clicking this link: https://leanpub.com/u/LadyLynn.
