Sandra Loyd used this book as her personal journal to help her heal through the pain of childhood trauma, domestic violence, and grief. It was very painful to rip the band-aid off of all the agonizing emotions that she never wanted to uncover. How she chose to pick up the pieces of her life at this time gave her a different perspective on life. She could no longer sit in self-pity, anger, and depression. Having a positive outlook on the bigger picture when traumatizing events happened in her life helped her to grow and become a better version of herself. These events made her resilient, increased her personal strength, and has given her a deeper appreciation for life.
