During the night of 11 April 1945, eight Australian Commandos landed on Muschu Island, off the coast of New Guinea - eight days later, the only surviving member of the commando team was found 20 kilometers away on the mainland. "The Guns of Muschu" tells the dramatic and harrowing true story of the daring raid on the Japanese occupied island of Muschu, based on the diary of the only survivor of the raiding party, Mick Dennis. The aim of the raid was to reconnoiter the island's defences and naval guns that posed a threat to the Australian Navy, and to capture an officer for interrogation. This is the first-hand account of how things went so tragically wrong, but also the amazing story of how one man managed to survive, against all the odds.
