He has photographed and interviewed over 10,000 people in forty different countries and helped raise over $20 million in support of various causes and individuals featured in his work.

Named by Time magazine as one of 30 Under 30 Changing the World, he is the author of four number one NYT bestselling books, which have sold millions of copies around the world: Humans of New York, Humans of New York: Stories, Humans and Tanqueray, as well as Dear New York. A proud graduate of the University of Georgia, he lives in New York City.
