In In the Oven with the Door Halfway Open, Ausi shares the story of her marriage to a man ten years older than she and their tumultuous life together, telling how she held onto hope, her dreams of a better future, and her Bible. This memoir chronicles the story of a fighter and a survivor, a woman who survived both Hurricane Katrina and domestic abuse. I do know this is how I would explain it all now: Through all my thoughts, my thinking of years of going through it, God gave me the strength to become stronger, wiser, smarter, which turn me into a "gray stallion" who could NOT and would NOT be "broken"
