Karen is a lifelong artist, native New Yorker, and proud graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, where she studied fashion, illustration, and design. Her early design career began in New York city's once thriving garment center, where she worked directly out of high school chasing her dream of becoming a clothing designer. But as the industry shifted overseas, Karen followed a new creative calling - one that would span more than two decades. For 25 years, Karen wrote and secured annual proposals for grant funded programs, developing curriculum in multiple mediums. Her work empowered hundreds of students to explore creativity with confidence and joy. Karen's memoir, "Listen to Your Art," is a reflection on the winding purposeful journey of a woman who followed her gifts wherever they led her from the classroom to the kitchen table, from studio to motherhood and eventually, back to herself.
