Kelvin Tsun Wai Ng, PhD., P.Eng. is a Professor of Environmental Systems Engineering at University of Regina, Canada. Dr. Ng is interested in the design of a sustainable waste management system (WMS). Ng has authored/coauthored over 180 publications, and he has received both research and teaching awards.. Dr. Ng also serves as a reviewer for several journals and conferences. Kelvin is currently serving as an Associate Editor and Guest Editor for Waste Management (Elsevier), an editor for Environmental Science and Pollution Research (Springer), and an editorial board member for Ecological Informatics (Elsevier). Kelvin is also active in reviewing grants for various Canadian and European funding agencies: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) - Discovery Grant, Collaborative Research and Development Grant, Alliance Grant; Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) - College Fund; Mitacs, Canada - Accelerate, Elevate; Research Manitoba; Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC); Agence nationale de la recherche (ANR, France); Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, Germany); Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC, United Kingdom). Kelvin’s review decisions on grants grow overseas research enterprises and build research ecosystem at a global level. Kelvin chaired the CSCE Environmental Division from 2018 to 2024 and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan Awards Committee from 2022 to 2024. Kelvin organized and chaired/co-chaired a number of international conferences, including the CSCE General Conference in 2015, and the CSCE Environmental Specialty Conferences from 2019 to 2025. Kelvin has been appointed to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment’s Solid Waste Management Advisory Committee since 2021, contributing to the revision of code chapters. Kelvin is a Professional Engineer with Permission to Consult in Saskatchewan, Canada. Onita D. Basu, PhD., P.Eng. is a Professor (Civil/Environmental Eng) and Associate Vice-Provost (Graduate Studies) at Carleton University. Dr. Basu obtained her bachelors’ (Chemical Engineering) and masters’ degree (Civil/Environmental Engineering) at the University of British Columbia, Canada and Ph.D (Civil/Environmental Engineering) at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Dr. Basu is interested in all aspects of water and wastewater treatment spanning from centralized (turn on the tap) services to point-of-use decentralized options. Embedded in this research is a complex mix of technical, social, and sustainability lenses, as well as experimental design, pilot scale and full scale research. Dr. Basu supports interdisciplinary research and recently has delved into the field of upcycling waste organics in the circular economy through novel hydrothermal polymerization methods. Upcycling of waste organics holds great potential for co-creation of advanced water treatment products. Dr. Basu supports cross-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary collaborations to bring the best ideas forward in an increasingly dynamic world to develop the best solutions. She strongly promotes the learning and advancement of graduate and undergraduate students through a team environment as well as active assistance in presentation preparation, data analysis, and manuscript writing. Dr Basu received a Carleton Faculty Graduate Mentorship award in 2021, a 2020 Ottawa Chapter Professional Engineers Civics Award and a Carleton Research Award in 2019. Clare E. Robinson, PhD., P.Eng. is a Canada Research Chair in Water Quality and Professor (Civil and Environmental Engineering) at Western University. She received her BEng and PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia. Before joining Western University in 2009, she completed a post-doctoral fellowship at EPFL in Switzerland and worked as a Water Engineer for a water supply and sanitation NGO in Bangladesh. She is a registered professional engineer in Ontario. Dr. Robinson specializes in investigating water-borne contaminants in the environnent with a focus on understanding the sources, transport and fate of contaminants in natural and engineered systems. Dr. Robinson’s current research includes evaluating impact of groundwater contaminants on surface water quality, urban stormwater management for water quality control, and determining the impacts of onsite wastewater systems on surface water quality. Dr. Robinson received an Early Research Award from the Ontario Government (2012) and was a member of the International Joint Commission Great Lakes Science Advisory Board from 2014 to 2019. She also was awarded a Western Faculty Scholar (2020-2022) and the Western Green Award (2018). Dr. Robinson has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals and given over 60 invited talks at international conferences, universities, and at government and industry workshops.
