Normally you wouldn't be out in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, at midnight, at a lonely crossroads, when it's 'dark of the moon'. Not if you had any sense anyway. So you wouldn't need to meet the dreaded Death Bogle when it's out on the prowl. And it wouldn't be able to put its mark on you. A mark that means you're fated to die within the year. No need at all - unless you've been stupid enough to take a dare that the Bogle doesn't exist. But when Peter Wilson, fresh from modern day Hampstead, does just that, it's his younger brother, Johnny who gets caught in the malevolent spirit's clutches. Now it's up to Peter and his friend Morag, with the help of Jeannie McClure, the local Witchwoman, to break the ancient evil's spell and save Johnny from a fate worse than death.
