Carol Kimball comes honestly by her interest in Groton history. She was born at Quaker Hill in Waterford and attended the local public schools, where she has taught for 20 years. She received her professional training at the Willimantic State College and the subject of her Master's degree thesis was the history of Groton. This scholarly work has been mimeographed by the Board of Education for the use of teachers and the following pages are a condensation of this written work in more popular style.
