The Missing Dimension: Pragmatics and English Education in Morocco explores a largely overlooked aspect of language learningpragmatic competenceand its critical role in teaching English as a foreign language in Morocco. Drawing on empirical research with Moroccan high school students, the book investigates learners' ability to understand and use language appropriately in social contexts, highlighting gaps in current teaching practices that focus primarily on grammar and vocabulary. Through diagnostic assessments, classroom observations, and pragmatic tasks, it identifies key challenges learners face and proposes a framework for integrating pragmatic instruction into English curricula. This work offers practical insights for teachers, curriculum designers, and policymakers aiming to cultivate communicative competence that goes beyond linguistic accuracy, ultimately bridging the gap between knowing English and using it effectively in real-life interactions.
