Autorenporträt
Despite moving frequently throughout childhood and his teen years and coming from a disadvantaged environment, Mike was inspired to write by his mother who often related stories of growing up in foster care during the Great Depression. Mike honed his craft of creative writing during his public school days and continued to be motivated by the praise he received from his teachers. Although he took a short break from formal education to start a family, through the requirements of his brief stint as a minister he continued to hone his craft by writing sermons weekly. After retiring and upon becoming a grandfather, Mike recognized the importance of children's books, reflected on the stories he told his own children, and was then motivated to write some of his own books for children.
