Marie Wollatz wurde 1981 in Freiberg/Sachsen geboren. Sie wuchs bis zu ihrem achten Lebensjahr in der ehemaligen DDR auf und lebt heute an der Nordseeküste in Schleswig-Holstein. Sie schrieb bereits Kurzgeschichten und Kolumnen für ein Jugendmagazin sowie Kolumnen für die Dithmarscher Landeszeitung und ist die Autorin der Kinderhörbuchreihe "Der kleine Pirat in der Seifenblase". Mit ihrer neuesten Kinderbuchreihe "Das Zeitreisehaus" möchte sie Geschichte für Kinder- und Jugendliche sichtbar und erlebbar machen. Ihre Arbeiten zeichnen sich durch einen sehr liebevollen Schreibstil aus.
