Charlee is a gifted ballet dancer whose long-sought opportunity for a loving relationship is sacrificed to pursue her professional dreams. When a heart-wrenching decision threatens to unravel everything, she draws strength from the enduring power of friendship. Her story is shaped by a lifelong bond with three women she meets as a teenager at summer camp. Doe, Tish, Jude, and Charlee are united by a serendipitous event that dubs them the "Monkey Club"-a name that becomes a symbol of their unbreakable connection. Together, they journey through the evolving seasons of life, sharing laughter, mischief, heartbreak, and unwavering support. A multigenerational story recounting coming-of-age themes, D.C. Hilton's debut novel is an emotional romp through life's most profound moments, reminding us of the grace that can be found even as memory fades and the body fails.
D.C. Hilton grew up on the North Carolina coast and now resides in the mountains where she and her husband raised their three sons. She draws inspiration from adventures including snow skiing, offshore fishing, biking, hiking, and yoga. Through a life of creativity and necessity she's worn many hats-with degrees in science and drama, she's been a dancer, actor, theatre arts educator, dental hygienist, coffee shop owner, and everything in between. She now finds joy biking the South Carolina beaches with her husband, spoiling her Barbet dogs, and exploring the mountains and coasts with her seven grandkids in tow.
